Advent Giving 2023

We believe cultivating an annual rhythm of sacrificial giving during our culture's most excessive season speaks to both us and our community as followers of Jesus.

We hope to raise $10,000 in the month of December.

With that goal met we will give away $10,000 to Church Planting through our campaign recipients.

Below are our Advent Giving Campaign recipients for 2023.

Please give to the "Advent Giving Campaign" on our Giving platform when you are ready.

CHURCH PLANTING INITIATIVE

Sojourn Montrose, Sojourn Houston Family of Churches

Sojourn Montrose
is a 10 year old congregation within Sojourn Houston that has directly sent two churches to be planted in Houston.

Their current goal is to raise over $300,000 to purchase, save, and overhaul a 65-year-old church building in their neighborhood.

Sojourn Montrose is in the process of purchasing a church building in the neighborhood and our brothers and sisters there need significant capital for a down payment to allow them to purchase and renovate this property.

Kyle and Michelle Ng, Japan Missionaries

Kyle and Michelle
are founding members of Sojourn Spring Branch.

Sojourn Spring Branch hopes to support the Ng family as they move to Japan to be full-time missionaries in the Iwate Prefecture (Northern Japan) with an unchurched unreached unengaged area of residents who live there.

Hope: They hope to reach out to families, children, the elderly, and whoever God leads them to, perhaps also incorporating pop-up cafe ministry events as an outreach tool to reach people for Christ.

Demeko Bivens, Sojourn Southside Pastor

Sojourn Southside
is a congregation within Sojourn Houston that had a soft launch in October 2022. On January 2023, they launched weekly Sunday gatherings.

Sojourn Spring Branch has supported the Bivens family for the past four years as a church planting resident and also as a church planter.

Vision: Sojourn Southside is a congregation reconciling their neighbors to God and one another who desire to see a disciple-making movement through neighborhood parishes that make up their local church in the Southside (Third Ward).

Josue Sanchez, Koinonia Church Pastor

Koinonia Church
is a new congregation being sent by The Grove Church within Acts29 that is meeting as a Core Team in the Sugarland area of Houston. They started meeting over the Summer 2022 and have launched their Missional Core of 9 families. They plan to launch weekly Sunday services in early 2024.

Sojourn Spring Branch hopes to support pastor Josue and his family for the second year as a church planter.

Vision: Koinonia Church sees Sugarland area saturated with the Gospel through God’s church.

Rob Reynosa, Power Church Pastor

Power Church
is a new congregation being planted in the Humble area of Houston. They started officially meeting on Easter Sunday 2023. The Aldine community has over 60,000 residents of which 92% are economically disadvantaged, which creates a unique opportunity for the gospel to take root.

Sojourn Spring Branch hopes to support pastor Rob and his family as a church planter.

Mission: Develop deeply devoted disciples of Jesus
